A Curse or a Blessing; Unaspected Planets – Very little research has been done on Unaspected Planets yet they have been used since the writings of Ptolemy. So how do we interpret planets that do not have any major aspects in the birth chart?  How do these planets connect or integrate with the other dynamics in the horoscope?  This talk will look at how Unaspected Planets can be the most dominant and obvious placement in the birth chart, how they can behave and express themselves and explore the vast or limited resources available that can either bottle or unleash them.

The Wounded Healer in Personal and Mundane Astrology - When looking at clients’ charts, Chiron can often illustrate some unresolved issues or areas where we need to address. Transits from Chiron will spotlight these and we are forced to navigate ourselves through uncomfortable territory. This also applies to the social. In this talk, Wendy will explore examples and offer how we might deal with these.

Wendy Stacey, B.A, M.A, Dip LSA is the principal of the international Mayo School of Astrology and Chairperson for the Astrological Association. She has written over 50 articles for students in the ‘Astrological Journal’ and is the author of ‘Consulting with Astrology’ and ‘Uranus Square Pluto’. She has also contributed to ‘The New Generation’, and to OPA’s ‘The Professional Practice of Astrology’ and ‘Bitcoin’. Israel Ajose is one of the leading lights in London’s Astrological Lodge with a thriving private practice. He’s become a fixture in our annual calendar since he first started presenting these Year Ahead workshops a few years ago, helping us to start our year in an enthusiastic and optimistic mood.

We’re proud to count Christina Rodenbeck as one of our own. Many of you will probably be familiar with her work at The Oxford Astrologer as well as from our workshops. As usual she’ll be organising the content of the day — and we have high expectations!

In this seminar we will explore the water houses as realms of the soul. It was Jung’s lifelong task to rescue the soul from the obscurity and neglect into which it had fallen in our culture, and his Red Book demonstrates that the influence of the soul is as relevant and powerful as ever.

Planets in the water houses and their planetary rulers describe the nature of our personal, ancestral and collective inheritance. They describe our psychic vocation, where and how we are affected by the residues of the past, find ourselves blamed and scapegoated, or become catalysts for change. The water houses also describe our sense of being deeply connected to, and supported by, the eternal flow of life.

We are thrilled to be hosting a weekend devoted to the asteroid goddesses -- Juno, Ceres, Pallas and Vesta. And we are even more thrilled that we have some veritable astrological Olympians to help guide us through the labyrinth of myth and herstory; truth, lies; illusion and actuality.

Juno -- queen, wife, mother, protector.
Ceres -- goddess of the corn, mother of girls, traveller, rescuer.
Pallas -- warrior, thinker, weaver, wise woman
Vesta -- domestic goddess, keeper of the eternal flame

Lynn Bell is one of our greatest living astrologers, with a mind for myth and an eye for the archetypal manifesting in reality. This year she gave the Carter Memorial Lecture at the Astrological Association (again!). She's been to Oxford several times before, but we keep inviting her back, because the contents of her mind need to be shared and disseminated.

Lynn has made special studies of Juno and Vesta -- the Queen and the Priestess, public and private goddesses.

Faye Blake-Cossar, of the Amsterdam School of Astrology, is probably the leading expert on astrological Ceres. She has been tracking the effects of Ceres since 2006, when the asteroid was recognised by astronomers as a minor planet as important as Pluto. Like a thought turned into action, Pallas Athena was born from the skull of the Lord of the Olympians, Zeus himself. She is a wise counsellor, a steady voice in the storm, a call to action, a conscience -- wisdom. Christina Rodenbeck, who writes the Oxford Astrologer, will describe how Pallas works for the individual and the collective. She's shown that Pallas is especially important for astrologers.

Navigating Your Financial Universe

Sutro Room, Trinity College, OxfordMoney makes the world go round, so we are delighted to be hosting a one day workshop with Christeen Skinner on astro-financial management and how best to navigate these challenging times.

In the morning we will be looking at the astrology of wealth, so bring your own chart (and, if possible, those of your parents and grand-parents).

The afternoon will give us a bird's eye view of 2018–20 and beyond: the remaining years of Pluto's transit of Capricorn, the extra-ordinary alignment in 2020, the solar cycle and the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in Aquarius.

A practising astrologer for more than 30 years, Christeen has been looking at planetary pictures since she was nine years old. She is fascinated by the correlation between particular planetary formations and events on earth. Measuring the apparent links between these pictures and financial markets pleases her immensely.

She is deeply committed to the development of greater understanding of the potential of astrology and supportive of those researching links between the planets and trends in music, architecture and politics.

She is a well respected key player on the astrology speaking circuit with focus on financial and business matters. In 2004 ‘The Financial Universe’ was published followed by ‘Exploring the Financial Universe’ in 2016. Her latest book ‘The Beginners Guide to the Financial Universe’ was published in March 2017.

Our January Year Ahead Workshop with Israel Ajose and Christina Rodenbeck was a huge success. It was so popular that it’ll keep our group afloat financially for another year — hooray! — and thank you to everyone who came.

In 2018, huge changes are taking place in the solar system — some of the biggest since 2010.

Saturn comes home to Capricorn — after a 28 year absence.
Chiron finally begins again in Aries — after a seemingly endless sojourn in Pisces’ watery depths (since 2010).
Uranus bursts into Taurus — after its startling transit through Aries since 2010.

Meanwhile, we need to consider Jupiter in Scorpio until November 2018, Pluto past the half way mark in Capricorn, and Neptune just over a third of the way through Pisces.

We will be workshopping these changes on January 6 in the Sutro Room. Christina Rodenbeck of The Oxford Astrologer and Israel Ajose of The Astrological Lodge of London will be leading the day. There will be a two lectures and we plan to look at as many personal charts as possible.

We are very pleased that Bernard Eccles and Adam Smith will be sharing the day on May 20.

Bernard will discuss these Grand Conjunctions and how they are working for us today.
"Everybody knows that the seven traditional planets were together in Aquarius in 1962, though we seem to have forgotten the one that took place in 2000. Yet to have two of these events within forty years is extraordinarily rare: there were only three in the preceding two thousand years, centuries apart, and there won’t be any more until at least 2400. Each one seems to change the course of history significantly, not just in Western Europe but in other parts of the world as well. And do all the planets have to be in the same sign? Or will just being within 30 degrees of arc do? And what about the outer planets? These horoscopes, far-reaching in every sense, are well worth looking at.”

Bernard has been teaching and writing about astrology since well before the last Grand Conjunction — and maybe as far back as the previous one.

Adam Smith will discuss the Lunar Nodes in Vedic Astrology
"Rahu and Ketu are essential parts of Jyotish, rising to the status of ‘shadow planets’. Yet their interpretation differs radically to that of Western natal astrology. How has this difference come about? With techniques and traditions East and West, Adam explores some of the myths that surround our understanding of the all-important nodal axis.”

Clare Martin will be leading the Oxford Astrology workshop – The Astrological Sun – on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Trinity College, Oxford.   A former President of the Faculty of Astrological Studies, Clare has an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, and is the author of Mapping the Psyche Volumes 1, 2 and 3, published while she was both working as a counsellor and teaching at the Faculty and the CPA.  

One member of the Oxford Astrology Group was keen to share her experience of Clare Martin’s teaching to give you an idea of why this workshop promises to be so special.

Great Darby Day
